Lunch Schedule

Parents and Students,


I am writing about the changes to our school schedule for this school year and, in particular, our lunch schedule. To address concerns raised by a few parents and students directly and to continue to be able to meet student educational and academic needs, we will be increasing the student lunch period from 40 to 50 minutes beginning on Monday, August 29, 2022. With this schedule change, we ask that parents and students work to minimize tardies and commit to being in class on time and ready to learn.

To accommodate a longer lunch period we had to move lunchtime. The 50-minute lunch period will be from 12:45 p.m. to 1:35 p.m. The later time allows us to ensure that students in the CVIT program can meet all state-mandated classroom hours for them to receive credit for the class. There will be a break between zero and first period so students in zero period can eat breakfast in the cafeteria before first period begins at 8:50 a.m. Please see the attached new bell schedule. As mentioned earlier, there are many reasons that the schedule changed this year. The main reason is that we were able to add an additional class period in the same overall length of time during the school day. An additional class period means:

- Less populated classes

- Increased ability for students to earn credits (many students need this based upon learning loss during the last few years due to COVID and other issues).

- More elective classes offered for student choice

- Ability to continue to meet state-mandated classroom hours for students to earn credit

We genuinely want to educate our students and want to meet their needs with the understanding that many students have many different needs. We believe that 50 minutes should be adequate time for all students to eat lunch and return to class on time. I encourage you to reach out directly to me with any concerns. My email is
