Superintendent

January 3, 2023

Dear Friends and Families of Globe Unified School District,

Wow!  2023!  We are off and running in a new year.  As I write this I hope each and every one of you enjoyed a wonderful holiday season.  I also hope it was a time of reflection about the many things we have to be grateful for as members of the greater Globe community, residents of Arizona, and citizens of the United States.

As we leap forward into the New Year, I just wanted to take a minute to share a David Letterman style “Top Ten” list of things to be grateful about as superintendent of Globe Unified School District.  Starting from number 10 and working to number 1 here is my list:

10. The privilege of living and working in a place as cool as Globe, AZ.

9. Continued steady academic progress of each of our schools.

8. Excellent principal and assistant principal leadership in each of our schools.

7. Outstanding support staff (bus drivers, cooks, custodians, aides, office staff, grounds, etc.)  serving our students.

6. Strong community support for our students and their activities.

5. Skilled and dedicated teachers helping our students learn and achieve.

4. Stable school board leadership with many veteran board members volunteering their time for our schools.

3. Great students who make each day worth doing.

2. Wonderful people to work with in the superintendent’s office.

And the number 1 thing I have to be grateful about as superintendent in Globe Unified School District is:

1. The opportunity to wake up every morning as a Globe Tiger and come to work to try to make GUSD a little bit better today than it was yesterday.

I am so privileged to be in my 11th year as superintendent here at Globe.  To all of the people mentioned above, I say, “let’s make 2023 our best year ever as we try to live up to our vision statement Capturing Hearts, Empowering Minds.”

Happy New Year,

Jerry Jennex, Superintendent
